FAQ
Do you have a shelter I can visit?
No. We are foster-based and volunteer-run, with no public kennel or walk-in address. Our dogs live in private foster homes.
Where are the dogs?
In foster homes in the Oregon / Portland area, and sometimes in Washington. Meets are scheduled after your application is reviewed — we do not publish foster addresses.
How do I start?
Apply on this site. A Petfinder or Facebook message is not a substitute for the application.
What does adoption cost?
Adoption fees range from $300 to $450. If you have questions about a specific dog’s fee, ask after you apply.
How long does approval take?
Review usually takes several business days. An application does not guarantee approval.
Do you do home visits?
They may be requested, and follow-up visits after adoption may also be required.
Can I adopt if I live in Washington?
Sometimes — we adopt into Washington less often than Oregon / Portland. Apply and we’ll talk it through.
How do I foster or volunteer?
Both start with a form on this site — see Foster and Volunteer.
Are you a nonprofit?
Yes. Paws For Life Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 46-3976664.
